Delfina Pizzeria – Pac Heights

It’s Friday night in the city and the decided destination for a rainy night is Delfina Pizzeria. My first time to this spot that I’ve heard good things about from friends and I’m not sure what to chose from the menu. For starters, they don’t take reservations, so be prepared to wait. After enjoying a glass of wine and some good conversation we finally get seated. To start things off we opted with the stretched mozzarella and belfiore burrata; essentially fresh mozzarella with small toasted baguette type bread with arugula. The combination of the nutty flavor of the arugula, rich creaminess of the mozzarella and the crispness of the bread made this dish just right. I mean I’m a Wisconsin girl and I can’t say no to cheese! On that note, I have to mention that they do have mozzarella in carrozza, which basically means its fried. I grew up on some fried cheese and almost couldn’t pass this dish up but had to when I learned it had anchovy sauce on it. Maybe next time I need to be more adventuresome and try it out. Next we shared the Insalata Tricolore; greens with a lemon vinagrette and grana padano (cheese). This was a very basic but tasty salad to go along with the main course…the pizza! We opted for the Salsiccia which had house-made fennel sausage, tomato, bell peppers, onions and mozzarella cheese. The pizza as you can see from the picture above was really great. I will definitely be back to Delfina Pizzeria again!
